Certificate Course in Global Health 2018



Department of Biological Sciences, BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus is going to organize a 10-day International Winter Institute in Global Health - WIGH 2018 from January 3rd to 13th 2018.

This unique Winter Institute offers an exciting opportunity to explore the intimate link between culture and health along with colleagues from the US and Bhutan. 

Participants will have the experience of working with US and Indian experts from premier Institutes to understand the health challenges of a fast globalizing world in light of traditional culture and community. One will glimpse the juxtaposition of tradition and progress that characterizes much of the new global world manifested in one of India's best tourist places.

For the Winter Institute in Global Health, over a 10 day period one will have the opportunity to explore cultural, social and behavioral influences on health and the challenge of adapting research methodology to diverse global contexts.

Specific Objectives:

  • Enhanced awareness of the challenges to health due to globalization including cultural, ethical, practical challenges of conducting global health research.

  • Increased understanding of the interplay of biological, social, psychological factors in research methodology that combines these factors.

  • Understanding of interplay of local and global factors influencing health and health disparities across nations.
